Text Box: -So you found a good sample, but it’s either too slow or too fast tempo wise. To speed up (or slow down) your sample you’re going to want to use Time Stretch.
-To use Time Stretch, select Effects—Time/Pitch—Stretch from the Cool Edit Pro menu. Once the options windows appears you’ll notice a lot of settings you can alter. The quick way to change the tempo of your sample is to select Double Speed from the Presets, and change the ratio to make your tempo either faster or slower. A higher number will slow down your sample, and a lower number will speed it up. Make sure High Precision is selected for best results.
-Furthermore, under Stretching Mode, you can also change whether you want the pitch to change as well. When you Resample, both your pitch and tempo will change. This means that if you speed up your sample too fast, then it’ll sound like the chipmunks, and if you slow it down too far it’ll sound like it’s on low batteries. If you want to preserve the pitch, and only change the tempo(speed, BPM) then select Time Stretch. If you want to change only the pitch but keep the tempo, then select Pitch Shift.
